Here at Cambridge Print Solutions we have many years experience in printing thesis / dissertations. Below is a list of often asked questions that may help in your preparation for printing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Setting files for print!
Please make sure that you have set your page size to A4, we receive so many files set to 'Letter' size. Although we can print from this it will mean you have more white space at the top and bottom of each printed page.

What margins are required for binding? 
The binders prefer 30mm on the binding edge for sewing and 20mm on the 3 other edges. If you have used Word to produce your work then standard margins will be acceptable. Ensure that fold-outs and diagrams produced have reasonable margins and that page numbers, headers and footers are away from the edge.

What format can I send my files to you?
Ideally we would like all files converted to PDF format but will accept in Word, Publisher, Illustrator, Quark, InDesign etc.

Can I email my files to you?
Yes you can email to info@cambridgeprintsolutions.co.uk. Total size of files per email must be less than 10MB. It is advisable that you also call us to make sure we have received your files.

Can I post my thesis/dissertation files  to you?
Yes you can, please enclose all contact details. See our contact us page for address.

Can I call in person?
Yes you can call in and bring your files on disc, memory stick etc.

How much will it cost? 
This depends on how many pages, copies required and ratio between colour & black and white. Colour pages cost considerably more than B/W. Should your thesis be prepared in several files then additional charges may also apply. Please contact us for exact costs. 

How long does it take to print?
Our standard turnaround time is 24hrs. Additional charges will apply for same day printing.

How do I know if it has printed correctly?
Although we take great care to see that your thesis is printed correctly we strongly recommend that you view all printed copies before they are sent for binding. We accept no responsibility for any errors or omissions however caused at a later time.

Can you bind this for me?
Yes Wire or Comb bind only. All other types will be done by Wilson & Son.

How do I pay?
We can accept most Debit / Credit Cards over the phone but not Amex. You will need to complete payment before we deliver to Wilson & Son for binding.

What paper do you use?
Our standard paper is 100gsm Elemental Chlorine Free from sustainable forests. We also use recycled, cotton and other types at extra costs. Please ask if required.

What are your opening hours?
Monday to Thursday 8am - 5pm. 
Friday 8.00am - 4.30pm.

Are you open on Saturdays? 
No we are closed Weekends and Bank Holiday’s. 

Can I park easily outside your premises?
Yes, and it's free!
